SMI Finalists in Women in Defence UK Awards!

WID logo

We are absolutely over the moon to let you all know that SMI has been declared a finalist in the Women in Defence UK Awards for Most Improved Charter Signatory!

This success means a lot to us. You’d be hard pressed to find someone in our organisation that doesn’t believe in the real power and usefulness in diversity at work – and for our own improvements in hiring and developing more women into the fold to be recognised is really excellent.

As signatories of the Women in Defence Charter, we’re all working together with our other signatories to ensure that more women are hired into defence, and to show that defence is more than just another place to work. Our ambition is to achieve 30% female representation at all levels across the defence enterprise by 2030. It’s a place that is welcoming, full of opportunity, and an industry that has a place for you no matter your background – we’re incredibly proud to have been shortlisted as a finalist.

Other signatories include colleagues across the gamut of defence; Serco, BAE Systems, Leidos are just a few examples. Organisations big and small are signed up to the Charter, and we’re all in the business of improving the industry that we love. Hopefully we can continue making it better as we move forwards.

Congratulations to the other finalists in our category, and all the other finalists at the Women in Defence UK Awards – see you at the ceremony in November!
